President Uhuru Kenyatta has called upon Russian investors to consider Kenya as the most promising investment hub in Africa.
Speaking during a a brief meeting President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi, Uhuru said that his government has put in place the right measures to ensure foreigners can start and grow their businesses in Kenya.
He asked the investors to back the government’s Big Four agenda as he seeks to leave behind a legacy when he completes his second term in office.
The head of state highlighted space technology, affordable housing, and charter flight services among the potential areas where the investors can pump their money and wait for profits.
Uhuru also said that the Kenyan government is interested in tapping the expertise of the Russians in the sector of energy to boost the country’s economy.
Putin welcomed the request by the President and asked Russians to seek for potential investment areas in Kenya.
“Last year it grew only a little, but it was still 1.2 per cent growth. We are glad that several Russian companies have gained a foothold in the Kenyan market,” he said, as quoted by Standard.
Uhuru and Putin agreed to boost the trade ties between the two nations.
