During the high-turnout celebration -- which brought together stakeholders, staff and clients  -- the financial service provider also unveiled a new logo as part of a wider strategy to  revamp its service delivery to its customers.

The new look, according to the branch's manager Stephen Kirumba , who delivered a keynote speech at the event, has been contrived to match the new realities prevailing in the job market in a bid to entrench efficiency and effectiveness in Equity’s service delivery."

The new look has been crafted to match the new realities, the ever changing business environment, emerging customer segment and preference and ever changing digital space," the manager remarked.

Equity Bank was first operationalised in Kenya in 1984, and  has since made  huge strides in expanding its scope of financial services, which initially was to liberalize banking services and make them accessible to the masses. It currently operates  in 9 countries, including Kenya, Tanzania,  Democratic Republic of Congo,  Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, Mozambique, and Zambia. By 2024, Equity envisions having expanded out to 15 countries with the vision and mission of transforming and changing lives and communities through financial inclusion.

Milestones:

Today Equity boasts of being a banking home to over 14  million customers, with more  than 45,000 agents, 26,000 merchants and 600 ATMs spread across the nation. The bank plans to rapidly increase its ATM footprint in Kenya.

The bank has also guaranteed gainful employment to more than 9,000 employees who earn their livelihood through  various capacities.

The bank, in partnership with MasterCard Foundation and other partners, has also been on the forefront of giving out educational scholarships to over 16 million children. In Garissa county, a total of 238 students have benefitted -- 159 from Garissa constituency and 79 from Dadab constituency.

The launch of the new logo comes against the backdrop of a series of transformative agenda undertaken recently by the bank, which includes the installation of state-of-the-art ATMs that are faster, efficient, convenient and far more time saving than the previous ones.

Equity’s management also promised to revolutionize customer experience, fairness and inclusivity to all its clients and stakeholders."

At our branch, we will continue to deliver great customer experience, treat all our customers fairly and inclusively, making it easy for them to find, understand and access products that are relevant to their individual or business needs," opined by the manager.

From this reporter’s perspective, it is truly exciting to see a homegrown-brand continue to grow into a world-class business that still has its core care based in providing services that help lift people out of poverty by offering competitive financial services.
