Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i on Thursday took lunch with Sub-Saharan Africa's first all female SWAT commandos in a move aimed at motivating the team.
The Special Weapons and Tactics team (SWAT) is a group of highly trained officers who can handle weapons of dangerous criminals using their training tactics.
Mostly, the team gets specialised training from Israel among other countries that are friendly to Kenya.
Kenya's SWAT team for female commandos is the first in Africa, an indication of a milestone within the country struggling with patriach among other challenges.
The interior boss said the goverment will continue supporting the team, adding that their welfare will be given first priority by his ministry.
"I had the pleasure of having lunch with Sub-Saharan Africa’s first all Female SWAT team," said the powerful CS.
"This formidable group of commandos are dedicated to serving our great country and I promised to prioritize their welfare issues."
Dr Matiang'i has been working hard to motivate his teams, a move that has often seen him making impromptu visits at various police stations.
On Thursday, Somali forces handed over two suspected Al-Shabaab militants to Kenyan forces, another milestone in the campaign to promote internal security.
