Two weeks ago, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga picked a war with a local publication after it claimed he had announced his 2022 presidential bid.
Raila vehemently denied the allegations, noting his focus, for now, was to ensure the success the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which was formed following his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
However, political observers were quick to note that the former Prime Minister just wanted to keep his foes and allies guessing, saying it was just a matter of time before he declares his interest to succeed President Uhuru.
If Raila will join the race to the State House, it will be his fifth time to seek the country's most powerful position. He had vied in 1997, 2007, 2013 and 2017 general elections.
The big question is, will Raila finally win the presidency in 2022?
The late former powerful Minister William Ole Ntimama highly doubted the son of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga will ever clinch power.
"You never know… Maybe he (Raila) will never win… At least some of us would have loved to see him ascend to the presidency. He has not been lucky. Poor man," Ntimama said in an interview three years before his death.
The former Narok North MP could have formed the conclusion after he campaigned strongly for Raila in 2013 but he did not win. Ntimama claimed their victory was stolen by Uhuru's defunct The National Alliance (TNA).
"The TNA machinery was determined to finish Raila and all of us. We did not lose. They stole the election. There, are of course certain areas we should have done better, but we were winning," he said in an interview with Daily Nation on July 13, 2013.
Ntimama, who served Kenya's first three Presidents; Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Moi and Mwai Kabaki, explained why he rallied behind Raila.
"I had experienced the dangers of a dictatorship. I wanted freedom. Raila had suffered for all of us. That is why I decided to lend him support," he stated.
A few months to his death on September 1, 2016, Ntimama dumped Raila and backed Uhuru's reelection.
Probably, it had dawned on him that the ODM boss will never take power.
