Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader has dismissed claims by the Deputy President, that they consulted him before he (Raila) went ahead to have the handshake with the president Uhuru.
Speaking today during the coastal region BBI meeting at Mama Ngina Water Front, Raila Odinga made it clear that he went straight to Uhuru Kenyatta.
The ODM leader stated that during 2017 elections, Kenya had only two presidential seat contestants. This meant that he needed not to use any other person who never took part in the elections.
"I saw someone saying that I approached him before I met the president. I did not approach anyone. It was an agreement between two main candidates," said Raila Odinga.
The DP Ruto during an NTV interview on Thursday noted how he had no regrets having rejected the handshake proposal by ODM leader. "I knew that Uhuru was the president and when I decided to deputize him, I deferred my powers to him. He was the Jubilee party leader and he was to lead the negotiations," said the DP.
Regarding the land question, Raila promised that BBI would look into that.
"Coast leaders have mentioned the land question, I know the problem is bigger than these small issues of title deeds. We have to resolve the land question in this region to create wealth, yet there is land lying idle," said Raila, who also revealed that Likoni channel would have a bridge which would ease movements and reduce deaths.
