The family of the man was run over by popular comedian cum radio presenter Inspector Mwala has expressed its distaste over the sentence that he was given.
According to the family of 36-year-old Ismael Mangi who passed away after being accidentally hit by Mwala, the sentence was too lenient.
Mwala was given a one-year jail term or pay a fine of Sh30,000.
According to a report by Daily Nation, Mwala had requested to pay Sh40,000 after hitting Ishmael who worked as a Rhino Cement Company plant operator.
The Sh30,000 fine was therefore in the eyes of the family too low.
The Nation also reports the family's displeasure over the manner in which police officers handled the case citing that there could have been more serious charges to be levelled against the comedian other than the charge of 'dangerous driving'.
The family now suggest that the investigation may have been interfered with hence making the police officers drop some of the serious charges.
On September 19, Mwala pleaded for leniency when he appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Nelly Adalo. Consequently, he was given the sentence of a one-year jail term with the alternative of paying an Sh30,000 fine.
