Speaking on Saturday, the former Subukia lawmaker questioned Uhuru's decision not to campaign for Mariga in the mini poll.

According to Wamwere, it was shocking to see the president keep off the issue, after showing that he was on Mariga's side.

"I was shocked to see Uhuru putting a cap on Mariga's head and then abandoning him. (Nilishangaa kuona Uhuru akimvisha Mariga kofia lakini baada ya hayo akakosa kabisa kumuunga mkono)," he said on Radio Sauti ya Mwananchi's Cheche show.

According to Wamwere, Uhuru now appears like a man who doesn't mean what he says.

"When you show support for a person then you abandon them, citizens find it hard trusting you again. (Unapoonyesha unamuunga mtu mkono kisha unamwacha, wananchi watashindwa kukuamini tena)," he added.

After endorsing Mariga at State House, President Kenyatta has never addressed the Kibra by-election.

Meanwhile, Mariga lost to Imran Okoth of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in the poll conducted on Thursday.
