The photo of an armed man collecting garbage was shared online on the morning of Friday, February 15, 2019.
This alerted the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) office which was quick to send officers to look for the concerned individual.
The man who goes by the name Alex Maina from Embakasi was finally arrested as the DCI confirmed in their tweet.
They also thanked Kenyans for assisting in various ways that made it possible for them to make the arrest.
"A man who was photographed armed & the matter brought to our attention has been arrested & will be charged accordingly. We thank Kenyans on Twitter for bringing this matter to our attention & for additional information that we received through Direct Messages. Let’s work together to keep our country safe," read a statement from the DCI.
Reports suggest that the man is part of a gang that over the day collects garbage within the slums of Mukuru but at night start terrorising residents.
When the police arrested the man alongside his mate James Kirucha they reported to have recovered the gun and three knives.
