Daniel Okello, 28, reportedly committed the crime at their home in Sisi Kwa Sisi estate at around 1 am on Tuesday.

Okello is reported to have stabbed 24-year-old Susan Atieno four times in the chest, in what the police believe is a case of domestic violence.

The woman who is three months pregnant is recuperating at the Coast Provincial General Hospital.

Confirming the incident, Changamwe Divisional Police Commander Peter Omanwa said that they were waiting for the woman to be stable to begin questioning her.

"We understand that this is purely a domestic violence matter. The only person who will tell us the motive is the wife. We are waiting for her to be in a stable condition so that we can get to the bottom of this,” he is quoted by the Nation.

According to a resident, the incident came as a shocker as the couple had not shown any signs of being in wrangles before the attack.

Shamsa Rajab, a neighbour said the woman never claimed about anything wrong with his family hours to the attack.

"At around 11 pm we were with the wife at the veranda conversing about our children’s welfare in school. She did not complain about anything to do with her marriage," she said.

The man committed suicide after the incident.
