Two men are fighting for their lives at Nyamira County hospital after they allegedly consumed poisoned outlawed chang'aa on Saturday evening at Boisanga area in Nyamira County.
Confirming the incident, area local administrator Bernard Omete said the two, Isaac Nyang'au and Maurice Ondoro consumed chang'aa before they started complaining of stomach pains.
"Ondoro and Nyang'au have been the notorious chang'aa addicts in the area. They consumed 4 glasses of chang'aa at a chang'aa den before they developed stomach complications," he said.
Omete said the victims were rushed to Nyamira hospital by their colleagues.
"The victims are luck to be alive and they should thank their colleagues who took them to hospital. They consumed chang'aa which was already poisoned. The are stable in hospital," he assured.
He called on residents engaging in making, selling, distributing illicit brews to stop before the law catches up with them.
"The government has not legalized the making, selling and distributing of chang'aa. Anyone who will be caught doing the illegal business will be arrested to face prosecution," he added.
