Powerful Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i was left in stitches on Friday as Governor John Nyagarama showed his light side of life at a funeral in Nyagancha.
In full glare of cameras, Nyagarama, who had been invited to give his speech, insisted that he was ready to carry money bags for Dr Matiang'i whenever he visits fund drives at his Nyamira County.
"Bwana Waziri, I have heard many requests for fundraisers in this gathering. We shall always attend. But allow me to be carrying your money bag. I will easily do that," he said amid laughter.
Governor Nyagarama survived in the Supreme Court a fortnight ago after a petition that was filed by his political nemesis Walter Nyambati was dismissed with costs.
While addressing the gathering, a joyful Matiang'i insisted that he will always help the region to grow, adding that he will ensure all stalled projects are completed in time.
"I love serving God and I will ensure that this continues despite my duties. As the governor has said, I am ready to give what I have all the times."
Present in the function were MPs Vincent Kemosi, Alfa Miruka, Shadrack Mose, Jerusha Momanyi and Senators Sam Ongeri and Okong'o Mogeni.
