President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined other leaders in mourning the demise of technocrat Raphael Githiga Mwai.

In his message of condolence on Sunday, Uhuru said that the death of Mwai is not only a blow to the family but also the entire nation. 

He said that his prayers are with the family during this moment of trial following the death of the Mwai, who was a leading Kenyan policy and governance expert Uhuru noted that the deceased played a critical role in the growth of the technological field during his tenure in office.

 He reminded Kenyans from different walks of life to work towards the realization of a growing economy. Uhuru also said that he influenced the lives of millions of Kenyans during his lifetime.

“Mr Mwai made a significant contribution that shaped the corporate governance sector in the country. He influenced many Kenyans especially those currently holding senior positions in our state corporations.

“We are deeply saddened by his departure and we pray that the Almighty God comforts the family, relatives and friends at this very difficult moment," said the President.

Uhuru called upon Kenyans from different walks of life to emulate the deceased in the quest to make this nation a better place.

Mwai served as a policy and governance consultant National Economic and Social Council (NESC) between 2004 and 2010 where he chaired the Technical Committee that crafted the Kenya Vision 2030.
