Former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has slammed Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen over his remarks following the cancellation of Kimwarer dam project.
The Sh22.2 billion project was suspended by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday after a technical committee he appointed reported it was not economically viable.
Uhuru at the same time allowed the construction of Sh15.4 billion Arror dam still in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The technical committee which made the recommendations was chaired by Infrastructure Principal Secretary Paul Maringa. It also had quantity surveyor and engineers Benjamin Mwangi and John Muiruri.
Outraged by the annulment, Murkomen hit out at Maringa's committee for 'misleading' Uhuru in cancelling the Kimwarer dam project.
The Senate Majority Leader also claimed the committee had members from the same community and its composition did not reflect the ethnic and regional balance.
"Planned Cancellation of Kimwarer and restructuring of Arror dams doesnt surprise me at all.The plan all along was to kill the projects. The composition of the technical committee doesnt reflect ethnic and regional balance. Maringa, Matu, Mwangi and Muiruri have sadly misled the President," Murkomen tweeted.
In a rejoinder, Kabando took issue with the remarks saying Murkomen should face Uhuru himself instead of attacking a community.
"Offside Kipchumba Murkomen! Does it matter, mono-ethnic ‘detectives’ nailing mono-ethnic thieves? Stop attacking innocent community because you think thieves of #Kimwarer #Arror Sh21b represent community! Direct your anger to boss Uhuru himself," the ex-legislator stated.
