Veronica Kaleso Matiku (68) sat her exams at Ukia Ukaiti School in Makueni County.

The mother of 10 is happy as she now looks forward to joining a secondary school.

Matiku says she has since directed her children to procure all the materials she needs to proceed to the next level.

“I have already informed my children to get me the necessary textbooks as I wait to join Form One,” Matiku said.

She addressed the press in Makueni on Wednesday.

Although the granny didn't score the marks she expected, hitting the D mark in both languages, she is hopeful that she will finally attain her dream of being a certified accountant.

Matiku said she wants to be an accountant to enable her to manage her properties.

She claimed her employees had been taking advantage of her poor education to con her.

“As a farmer, my employees often conned me because I lacked simple record-keeping skills. But I have acquired arithmetic skills and I’m looking forward to joining secondary school to further my studies,” she said.

Matiku expressed happiness with her progress as she can now speak fluent Swahili and do simple arithmetic unlike before.

The granny will be 72-years-old by the time she will be sitting her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
