Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has praised Director of Public Prosecutions Noordjn Haji's move to order for the arrest and prosecution of Patel dam owners as well as other people linked to the May 9 dam tragedy that claimed 48 lives, caused injuries and displaced families.
Kihika said that justice must be served to the victims who lost lives, those injured and those who were displaced.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Thursday, Kihika said the truth about the Solai dam tragedy must be laid bare.
"The DPP's move is welcomed and we as leaders want to see justice served to the people who lost their lives," she said.
Kihika warned politicians who are allegedly trying to politicize the case.
"We must keep politics out of sensitive matters and allow the law to take its course," she added.
She also called for calm and peace among Solai residents.
On Thursday, Patel dam owners Perry Mansukh, Vinoj Kumar and Nakuru Water Director Johnson Njuguna were charged in a Naivasha law court with 48 counts of manslaughter.
The three pleaded not guilty and the court will rule today (Friday July 6) on whether to release them on bond or bail.
Six more suspects are also expected to plead to the charges after the court issued warrants of arrest against them.
