Police have nabbed a barmaid for allegedly setting ablaze a client at Ndalani market in Masinga, Machakos County.
The woman who works at a local pub in the market is said to have burnt the victim over Sh100 debt on Sunday night.
"The woman has been beating and insulting customers over small debts which even friends can help settle," said resident Mike Museo.
The culprit is said to have doused the man with petrol before using a matchstick to light the fire.
"This is so inhumane, you can't set your fellow human being ablaze the way she did. It's not good to douse petrol on someone and set him/her ablaze just like that. People should have a good heart," Museo said.
The victim was rushed to Matuu Level 4 Hospital for emergency treatment and later transferred to Machakos Level 5 Hospital for specialized medication.
Area assistant chief Juvenalius Ngonyi confirmed the incident stating that the victim is being held at Yatta police station as investigations continue.
