A school that performed well during last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations will get more classrooms.
This is after Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri on Monday promised to build more classrooms to cater for the increased number of students.
Ngunjiri said construction of extra storey classrooms at Giachong'e primary school in Dundori Ward will begin immediately.
The school performed well last year during the national examinations and was number two in Nakuru North Sub-County.
Speaking in Bahati, the MP said an extra land will be bought for expansion purposes adding that the construction of new classes will be funded through the public kitty.
He said classrooms are excessively congested following the 100 per cent transition directive from the government.
“I have promised for immediate construction of extra storey classrooms at Giachong'e primary school in Dundori Ward. The move is aimed at decongesting pupils in classrooms and ensure they study in a conducive environment,” the MP posted on Facebook.
Ngunjiri urged parents to support their children by making sure they have all they need to enable them to access good education.
Following the 100 per cent transition policy by the Ministry of Education, most learning institutions are overstretched by an influx of students.
School heads have asked the government to provide adequate infrastructure, teachers, beds and desks to ease the congestion in various schools.
