Until recently, the DP has been urging politicians to remain calm regarding the poll but has been drumming up support for his Presidential bid at the same time.

According to the Standard, Ruto has been meeting delegations at his Sugoi home in Uasin Gishu secretly, the main agenda being succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This went on throughout the December holidays and saw him meet among others, nine governors and elders from various communities.

He has also been meeting Members of County Assembly (MCAs) and their higher ranked colleagues from the National Assembly and Senate.

Only two of such meetings were publicized, these being his most recent meeting with leaders from Bungoma and Busia counties on Wednesday.

On Thursday, he held talks with a delegation from Vihiga and Bomet.

DP Ruto has since made it clear that he will push for his presidency and will not sit back and wait for favours from the Jubilee Party or any other quarters.

He has said that he does not need anyone's enforcement to make it to the top seat, expressing his readiness to work his way up.
