The family of the late Equity Bank CEO John Mwangi is embroiled in a legal tussle over sharing of property.
One of the deceased widow’s, Sarah Wanjiru Ngugi, now wants his remains exhumed to allow pathologists to conduct a DNA test to ascertain the paternity of his children before sharing of the property.
Wanjiru argues that Mwangi, the proprietor of Enashipai Resort, left behind several children and only the test can be used to avoid unnecessary court cases.
In court papers, seen by Citizen Digital, Wanjiru claims she is reading something sinister in the case.
“DNA test be conducted on any other persons alleging to be a biological child of the deceased so as to avoid unnecessary lengthy litigation so as to determine paternity,” reads court papers.
She has since asked the court to give the family guidance on how the property will be shared following his demise.
The complainant has also lamented that her co-wife Beatrice Wanjiku Mwangi and her two sons want to use underhand tactics to lock her out from the property of the deceased.
She also argues that the marriage information left behind by the late husband shows gaps in their union with Wanjiku despite her hardline stance on the matter.
In her defence, Wanjiku has affirmed that she is the legal wife of the late CEO.
