Questions have been asked over the suitability of Governor John Nyagarama's ability to lead with a number of county residents getting concerned about his age.
At 74, Nyagarama has been under pressure from locals over his development agenda, with graft and maladministration topping the list of persistent complaints.
On Thursday at Lake region Economic Block summit in Kisii, Nyagarama appeared on podium in walking stick, further attracting criticism from a section of county residents.
"This is an indication that he's tired and punctured to lead. This is a mistake committed by us. At this age, I don't think he's even capable of generating new ideas," argued Sam Omosa.
Another critic, Johnstone Mogaka, urged the governor to handover duties to his deputy, adding that he's incapable of steering the county development wise in the coming years.
"With a walking stick, we are being told he's tired to lead and that's a fact. The most honest thing to do is to handover to his deputy. That's the most honorable thing he can do."
For two months in May last year, Nyagarama went for medical check-up in the US and briefly surrendered powers to his deputy Amos Nyaribo, who has been also under treatment in India.
And sources say the governor could be headed to US again for check-up even as his health concerns continue to deteriorate.
