A woman is nursing burn injuries at a Kirinyaga hospital after her husband allegedly burnt her using a burning stove on Sunday.

The incident reportedly happened after a disagreement emerged involving food, after the woman cooked the wrong dish for her husband.

32-year-old Peter Ngugi is said to have gotten angry after the wife cooked him rice, in defiance to his initial directive that she prepares githeri.

The incident happened at their home in Ngurubaini village, in Mwea, with the victim's aunt saying that her nephew who is 27-year-old escaped with serious burn injuries.

The incident was confirmed by acting Mwea East OCPD Lucas Chebet who said that the suspect is yet to be nabbed, and will be arraigned once arrested, reports the Citizen Digital.

The victim who is a mother of two is being treated at a private hospital.

This comes barely a month after another man strangled his wife to death over food in the same county.

Wanjohi Kagai reportedly strangled his wife Virginia Wambui after realizing that she had not left him any support in their home in Mwea West.

He is said to have reportedly arrived while drunk on the night of June 1, an incident that was confirmed by Mwea West OCPD Stephen Wenda.

He said that tests on the body of the deceased showed signs of struggle.
