Ruaraka Member of Parliament has maintained that a referendum is inevitable.

Speaking on Sunday in Suna West, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator said that there was a need to engage with the people on the issues that will inform the plebiscite questions.

"We have come to speak to our people in a language they understand about the impending referendum. Let me tell you, the referendum is coming. You may want to say something about it but it is coming.

"And before it comes, we must prepare to understand the issues that are likely to be the questions which will be framed for the referendum questions, " the Ruaraka MP said.

There have been calls for a referendum led by veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga who has called for an amendment of the constitution to alter the country's governance structure.

Deputy President William Ruto has been non-committal on the referendum question, saying that his support will be pegged on the nature of the questions that will be put questions.

TJ Kajwang was seconded by Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi who held the view that there were issues in the constitution that would only be addressed by a referendum.

"The holding of a referendum that we have in our constitution that need to be addressed. So in pushing through this campaign, we are of the strong view that corruption has reached a level that is a threat to national security, " Andayi said.
