Village Market shopping mall has been temporarily closed following the Riverside attack in Westlands, Nairobi.

In a statement shared on their Twitter handle, the mall management noted that 

"Please note, Village Market is temporarily closed as a security precaution; a standard protocol.

"We pray for the safety of all those affected by the situation at 14 Riverside, and for the first responders and security services on site," Village Market management tweeted.

The attack happened at around 3:00 pm. So far, a multi-agency security team is at scene engaging the criminals.

The Kenya Red Cross and other first aid teams are at the scene to attend to injured victims.
