Mathare Member of Parliament Anthony Oluoch has termed the ministry of National Treasury the most corrupt docket in the nation.

Speaking on Radio Jambo on Wednesday, the lawmaker claimed that the ministry was formed and is in existence to spearhead corruption in the government, basing on its history.

The first time MP claimed that theft of public coffers is normally provided for in the ministry, and schemes to realize the same hatched and included in the budget.

He said that after inflating the funds needed to run the government through its different departments, it becomes easy for the corrupt to steal the remainder of the money.

"Hiyo wizara imetungwa kuendeleza ufisadi. Katika hiyo wizara, ufisadi umefichwa katika bajeti (the docket was formed to promote graft. Corruption is hidden in the budget)," he said.

He was speaking Mazungumzo Waziwazi show, hosted by presenter Bramwel Mwololo and attended by Dagotetti North MP Simba Arati and political expert and analyst Gerald Bitok.

Oluoch proposed a complete overhaul of the ministry as one of the few available options for returning sobriety, observing that the norm of only replacing ministers is not effective.

He also suggested the separation of treasury and budget departments through an amendment, to make it hard for the two offices, currently under one office, from collaborating.

"Tureconstruct process ya bajeti na tuoverhaul wale wote wanafanya pale, sio kutoa CS tu. Tuseme Treasury na budget audit zitenganishwe, tufanye amendment," he said.

His translates to; "(Let's reconstruct the budget process and overhaul the ministry. Let's remove all the people working there and not only the CS. Let the treasury and budget audit offices be seoarsted through an amendment)."

This follows the Wednesday replacement of former CS Henry Rotich following his implication in the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
