One student from Muisuni Girls secondary school on Sunday evening lost her life after a school toilet caved in.The incident left another student nursing serious leg injuries.
The incident was confirmed by Kangundo Sub-county police commander Benjamin Ong'ombe who said that the two were using the toilet when the incident occurred.
He said that the girl who was injured, a form two student was rushed to Kangundo level four hospital for treatment and later transferred to Machakos level five hospital.
The police boss observed that the tragedy may have been caused by the heavy rains being experienced in the region.
"I have just left the school a while ago. It is a toilet that collapsed and one student didn't survive while another got injured," said Ong'ombe.
"We suspect that the toilets caved in due to the heavy rains pounding the area. I have not know which class she was but will find out soon," he told this writer on phone.
He noted that investigations into the incident have began and the necessary action will be taken. The school's administration could not be reached for a comment at the time of publishing.
