Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has weighed in further on President Uhuru Kenyatta's endorsement of McDonald Mariga for the Kibra by-election.
Speaking on Friday, Musalia Mudavadi said that the president's body language indicated that he was not fully in support of the former footballer's candidature.
"I looked at the body language of Uhuru and even though he was greeting him, I saw the body language say that Uhuru wanted to leave for New York and then come back to do his work (Niliangalia hiyo body language ya Uhuru ingawa alikuwa anamsalimia niliona body language inaonyesha ya kwamba Uhuru anasema yeye anataka kuenda kufanya kazi ya nation huko New York amalize akuje aangalie mambo ingine), " he said.
President Uhuru's endorsement of the Jubilee candidate took many by surprise.
It came after the president's silence on who he would support in the Kibra parliamentary race, fueling speculation that he would not endorse any candidate in the race.
Mariga's candidature was not without controversy as a list containing his name initially submitted to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was deemed fake by the Jubilee party secretary-general Raphael Tuju.
He was disqualified from the race when he submitted his documents to the Kibra returning officer on the grounds that his name was missing in the voters' register.
