A Makueni court on Wednesday sentenced Daudi Nzomo, the man captured on camera assaulting his wife last week to 12 years in prison.
According to Citizen Digital, he will serve a 10-year prison sentence while the other two, will be served under probation.
The court arrived at the sentence after the prosecution team argued that it was not his first offense.
He has previous records of violence on his wife.
Nzomo, in 2013, assaulted his wife Winfred Mwende after she opposed his move to marry a second wife. The case was, however, settled by the area chief.
“The victim revealed Nzomo assaulted her back in 2013 when she objected Nzomo's decision of marrying a second wife,” the Prosecutor Jennifer Ndeda said as reported by Citizen Digital adding the suspect has been assaulting his wife since then.
Further, in 2016, a report produced in court indicated that he sent away his family and even attempted to commit suicide.
The father of three is now pleading with Mwende to come back to his life as she has already decided to divorce him.
