Kenya National Union of Teachers Treasurer John Matiang'i has yet again lashed at the government over ongoing dislocation of teachers.
Teachers Service Commission has been transfers teachers from their local areas in an exercise that has caused discomfort.
And on Saturday in Nyamira, Matiang'i said teachers will go on strike if the programme is not stopped.
"We are not children of a lesser God. Teachers must be respected. Their families you must be put into the account.
"In fact, it would be even difficult for their wives because they also need conjugal rights. The government should drop that policy or we proceed with a strike," he said.
Early this year, several school heads were affected in the transfers when Matiang'i's brother, Fred Matiang'i was incharge of education.
Already, nominated MP Wilson Sossion has set September as a defining month where teachers would oppose the policy.
