Former Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe bit more than he could chew, Deputy President William Ruto has said.
The DP was commenting on Murathe’s remarks when he was still serving as a Jubilee leader that the party will not support Ruto in 2022.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday, the DP said Murathe had to quit the party following the remarks.
“Murathe bit more than he could chew. And let me tell you Hussein, when we were coming together to form Jubilee, Murathe was not there. So he knows nothing about the future of Jubilee,” Ruto said.
However, Murathe said he was resigning from his position because he could not work with Ruto.
“I cannot sit down at the National Executive Council of the party with this man who I believe is not fit to run for president. In fact, I will go to the Supreme Court to bar him from running,” said Murathe.
Ruto said the Jubilee party has structures which will determine who will fly its flag in the 2022 presidential race.
“The party has structures and mechanisms which will determine its future candidates including the presidential candidate. We will support whoever will be handed the party’s ticket in a fair and transparent way. And I can I assure you even if that person will not be William Ruto, I will support him,” he added.
