Siaya Senator James Orengo has been a centre of controversies lately, thanks to his questionable and suspicious declarations and suggestions.

Two weeks ago, the close ally of opposition boss Raila Odinga was on the spotlight for claiming that the ODM party is in coalition talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On Sunday, he again made another controversial remark, hinting at a plot to impeach Deputy President William Ruto, which has landed him in trouble with allies of the DP.

Though he insists that the remarks are exclusively his and have not been influenced by the former Premier, they seem like part of a larger plan to derail Ruto.

The plan could be to create confusion within Ruto's block, considering that he has so far made two controversial claims, both touching on the DP, and deny him time to focus on 2022.

The first claim was most likely aimed at creating more tension between Ruto and Uhuru, and portray Uhuru as not ready to honour his initial vow to support the DP as his successor.

Considering that he is seen as one of the most experienced politicians in the nation, Orengo is most likely being used to force Ruto's camp into wasting more time observing the president.

While they spend more time analyzing where Uhuru might be standing, Ruto and team will be wasting more that could have been used in preparing for the 2022 elections.

Also, the plan could be to trick Ruto's allies into suspecting and questioning Uhuru, leading to an altercation which might make Uhuru walk away in anger.

Considering that Uhuru is on his second and last term and doesn't really need to keep any promises as he no longer needs the DP, questions from Ruto's allies who are usually very poor at handling such matters and use funerals to do so would easily drive Uhuru away.

The impeachment debate is again most likely an attempt to worsen the already existing confusion within Ruto's camp and make him feel unwanted.

The plan could be to make him more restless and abusive so that the opposition can get more reasons to campaign against him. They will then say the government failed to deliver because the people tasked with the role were busy firing insults at others.

It is also worth noting that the Orange party has come out to distance itself from both declarations, which has openly further confused Ruto's camp on where exactly the party stands and what to expect from it come 2022.

With the confusion, Raila and team hope to ride on the same to come to power in 2022, as they will be contesting against a battered rival.
