The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has branded Kenyans who turned up during the swearing-in of their party leader Raila Odinga, as the people's president as 'true heroes'.
On Thursday, ODM Party took to their official Twitter handle to laud their supporters for showing up in large numbers to witness 'the unthinkable' swearing-in of their leader.
"To thousands of people who turned up at Uhuru Park, you are True Heroes of 30th January. You stood up to assert yourselves even in the face of bullets and teargas, braved the scorching sun to witness the unthinkable. @RailaOdinga loves you all. We love you," ODM tweeted.
Today marks the second year since Odinga was sworn in as the people's President at Uhuru Park in Nairobi.
The controversial swearing-in of Odinga led to several things in the country, among them being the birth of the famous handshake.
On March 9, 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga decided to put aside their political differences by exchanging a handshake to unite Kenyans.
From the handshake, the Building Bridge Initiative (BBI) was formed and it is now the current political wave of the country.
