This comes weeks after his foiled attempt to achieve the same in the London Marathon in April, where he, however, ended up setting a record time of 2:02:37.

His London-based INEOS 1:15 challenge team on Thursday confirmed that Kipchoge will be seeking to complete the marathon under two hours on October 12.

Kipchoge, who is currently training in Kaptagat, confirmed that he is ready for the challenge, 3 years after failing to realize the same on the Monza Formula One racetrack in Italy.

He said his intention is to prove that clocking below 2 hours in the long race is  possible, terming it his chance to make history.

"This is a golden chance for me to make history and show the world that no human is limited," he said as quoted by Standard.

Kipchoge said the course selected for the race if flat and fast, factors that could held him achieve his set target.

"Vienna has a fast and flat course, nicely protected by trees. This gives me further belief that I can break two hours," he said.
