Deputy President Dr William Ruto has attacked Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga and faulted his nicknames.
Speaking at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kirinyaga County, Ruto said that the veteran politician should leave the 'Baba' (father) name to God who is the most powerful.
“Some people are called his excellency, his worship., right-honourable, Baba (father) and mama(mother) and he forgot that there is a living God in heaven and no one is powerful than him,” quipped Ruto as quoted by K24.
Accompanied by over 20 Members of Parliament supporting his 2022 presidential bid, Dr Ruto said he is not fully behind the constitutional changes fronted by the African Union (AU) High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa Raila Odinga.
“Those beating drums on the referendum, we want to tell them that we are focused and we know where we are going. No amount of intimidation and blackmail will stop us from fulfilling the agenda we promised Kenyans,’’ Dr Ruto said.
However, President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared his support for the referendum.
“If there is anything wrong with the Constitution, or any other law, we need to sit down and see how best we can rectify it,” President Kenyatta said during the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) Church in Karen, Nairobi as quoted by Daily Nation.
