Members of Parliament have been urged to contend with their current pay, and not make any further attempts to allocate themselves any more money in the coming year.
Speaking on Saturday, political analyst Professor Herman Manyora said Kenyans are already suffering from a bad economy, and a continuation of the salary increment habit will only worsen the solution.
He said speakers of the two houses; the National Assembly and Senate, should intervene for Kenyans and ensure that no more money finds itself into MPs pockets in 2020.
"Lusaka, the Senate and your people, Muturi and your people, Kenyans are not happy with you. Promise Kenyans that in 2020 you will be able to tame your greed. Let Kenyans not hear about you asking for a single cent," he said on Saturday on his YouTube analysis channel 'Take It or Leave It'.
The Prof said Parliament should actually help in fighting the loss of monies to corruption, by coming up with the necessary laws to prevent corruption.
According to him, the two houses should in 2022 enact laws which will ensure that the corrupt are dealt with within the shortest time possible.
"I also want to ask Parliament to do one thing; to help this country fight corruption by enacting a law speedily to ensure that corruption and other economic crimes are prosecuted within a specified time of a maximum of six months," he added.
