Keroche director Tabitha Karanja and her husband Joseph Karanja have been arrested.
The two were arrested following an order from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Nordin Haji over tax evasion. Haji said that he has evidence that the two billionaires were yet to pay tax amounting to Sh14 billion.
Tabitha has earlier on said that they will not surrender to the detectives. She noted that the arrest warrant is not only ill-timed but also ill-driven.
"Am shocked by the new allegations leveled against me, my husband and Keroche Breweries and this is pure malice," she said, as quoted by Standard.
She faulted her competitors for her woes and promised to fight back after the accusations.
"This is a vendetta war launched by my competitors and am ready to face the taxman and the DPP to prove my innocence," she added.
The billionaire said that she had learned about the directive to arrest her through social media.
The directors had picked Senator James Orengo to represent them in court before they lost the battle to stop the process.
Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi have faulted the DPP over the directive to arrest the two.
Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has also said that more than 500 employees risk losing their jobs if the businesspersons are prosecuted and charged.
