Political temperatures continue to escalate with just about 48 hours before the official launch of the Building Bridges Initiative report at State House.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga are set to receive the report after one year of constituting the team.
However, leaders allied to Odinga and DP William Ruto continue to show divisions, despite the fact that the report is meant to unite Kenyans ahead of 2022 polls.
On Saturday, Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Gladys Shollei insisted that BBI report is illegal, adding that the constitution does not recognize the route used to change the law.
"As a lawyer, I want to explain to you about Building Bridges Initiative report. This programme is illegal. You can only change the Constitution through parliamentary or popular initiatives. Sitting in hotels to draft documents is unconstitutional," she said.
DP Ruto has also openly accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of using the BBI report to push for his 2022 presidential bid, a claim Odinga has disputed.
On Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta accused a section of politicians of opposing the document even before it's release, and called for patience.
“There are some characters who poke holes into the report yet they are not privy to what is contained inside,” he said.
"Only a fool will say that there are no issues in this country that require addressing," the president added, insisting that the country needs changes.
