Over 90 years after its inception, Kapsabet Boys High School school in Nandi county has strived to be ranked among the top academic giants in the country.

The school has produced over 10,000 active alumni who have done well in different fields across the country and even beyond.

Several current and former prominent politicians also studied at the Kapsabet-based High School.

Most of them were at the school in the early 90s and 2000s.

Here is a list of some of the politicians who studied at the school that has for over years been ranked among the best in the country in terms of performance in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

Daniel Arap Moi 

The retired president studied at Kapsabet Boys High School before joining Tambach Teachers Training College (TTC) and later started working in 1946.

William Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto joined Wareng Secondary School in Eldoret after completing his primary school education where he sat his ‘O’ level exams in 1984 and was a student at Kapsabet boys in 1985 and 1986 where he sat for his ‘A’ level exams in 1986.

Stephen Sang

The governor of Nandi who is a lawyer by profession was a student at Kapsabet Boys High School between 1999 and 2002. He sat for his KCSE exam in 2022 before joining the University of Nairobi where he studied Law. 

Alfred Keter

The outspoken Nandi Hills legislator was in Kapsabet Boys High School between 1994  and 1997.

Other notable alumni of Kapsabet Boys High School include former Cabinet Minister Henry Kosgei, KANU’s Nick Salat and the late veteran politician Nicholas Biwott.
