ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi has poked holes in Deputy President William Ruto’s forays in his backyard.
In an interview with the Standard, Mudavadi said that the defection of some leaders does not translate into votes.
He reminded Ruto, who is considered as one of the front runners in the race for the presidency in 2022, to ask himself why he is only invited in the region for fundraising. He noted that the leaders from the region are only interested in Ruto’s money and nothing else.
The remarks come after former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba vowed to back Ruto for the presidency.
Mudavadi said that some of the leaders have mastered the art of taking money from parties and leaving at the time they need their support the most.
“I am not worried about the many visits other people make in Western region. Some leaders crossing over does not necessarily translate into votes,” said Mudavadi.
The Western political kingpin insisted that he remains the best man for the presidency come 2022. He said that he has plans that will enable him to beat DP Ruto hands down when that time comes.
He also pointed out that Ruto should come clean on how he makes money. Mudavadi said that Ruto has been donating more money than companies including Safaricom but he is yet to speak on the source of the same.
