Hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta rejected the controversial Finance Bill that proposed implementation of the 16 per cent VAT on fuel products, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced new pump prices.
In accordance with Legal Notice No.196 of 2010, Energy (Petroleum Pricing) Regulations and the amendment thereof, calculated the maximum retail pump prices of petroleum products, which will be in force from September 15 to October 15, 2018.
Taking into account the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products, the changes in the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices in Nairobi are:
Super Petrol decreases by Sh2.21 while Diesel and Kerosene increase by Sh0.39 and Sh0.29 per litre respectively.
"The prices are inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT) at 16% in line with the provisions of the VAT Act 2013," said ERC on Friday.
