Speaking on Tuesday, Nyoro claimed that the same is the stand within the Kieleweke group, a union of Mt Kenya politicians opposed to Deputy President William Ruto's presidential ambitions.

He claimed that Kieleweke members, including nominated MP Maina Kamanda, have repeatedly told him that Raila will be the next president and that himself and his allies should prepare for it.

"These people called Kieleweke, including Kamanda himself, have been telling me this is your president, get used to him early (mumzoee mapema)," he said on Citizen's TV's News Night show on Tuesday night.

The MP also claimed that his ongoing woes, including his Monday arrest and alleged plans to harm him are a political retaliation from people unhappy with his support for the DP.

"I know I am being fought politically. I believe it is because of my support for Ruto," he claimed.

Kieleweke has been seen to lean towards Raila, since his March 2018 truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta, the defacto Mt Kenya kingpin.

However, Raila has remained silent on his 2022 plans, though a number of politicians have predicted that the 2022 race will be between Raila and Ruto, who has already declared interest in the race.
