Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has claimed that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga is mad after the Daily Nation published an article indicating that he plans to contest against Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.
In an interview on NTV's Am Live show on Tuesday, Cheruyoit argued that the leader of the opposition is mad because his secret plan has been revealed.
The senator, who has been very vocal on matters of national interest, said that the bubble of the opposition has now burst, leaving his team with nowhere to turn to.
“The reason why they are mad is because it burst their bubble and revealed who they are,” he said.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, Raila, through his spokesperson Dennis Onyango, dismissed claims that he will be contesting for the nation’s top seat in 2022 after President Kenyatta Uhuru completes his second and final term in government.
“Raila Odinga strongly objects to reports appearing on the Sunday Nation that put him in a presidential race he has not declared any interest in and which does not exist currently,” he said.
The handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta continues to leave Deputy President William Ruto’s camp in jitters ahead of the next general elections.
