For the first time, dozens of Gusii politicians have convened together in a burial ceremony, regardless of their sharp political beliefs and philosophies.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has been battling out with DP William Ruto over the control of Abagusii community, a move that has led to political factions.
During Dr Hezron Manduku's funeral barely a month ago, which Dr Matiang'i and Raila Odinga attended, Ruto's team was conspicuously absent.
But on Sunday, MPs Joash Nyamoko, Shadrack Mose, Alfa Miruka, Ezekiel Mochogu, Vincent Kemosi, Sylvanus Osoro and Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi attended the burial of billionaire entrepreneur Stephen Mogeni.
The team has been at loggerheads with that of Dr Matiang'i, who is also among those attending the burial of the businessman, who founded Mogeni Tea Factory.
In separate events, the two teams have often hurled insults against each other, with Matiang'i's team accusing Tanga Tanga wing of launching ghost projects.
Those in Matiang'i's team at the funeral include Senators Okong'o Mogeni and Sam Ongeri, Governors John Nyagarama and James Ongwae along with MPs Jerusha Momanyi, Janet Ong'era among others.
Borabu MP Ben Momanyi had asked politicians to desist from engaging in politics during the highly publicised funeral event at his turf.
Also present is another faction led by ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire, a staunch supporter of the Handshake but chief critic of Dr Fred Matiang'i.
By the time of going to air, politicians had not started giving speeches. Senator Okong'o Mogeni, a relative to the deceased, is the host.
