Uasin Gishu County government has imposed quarantine on all livestock in the County in a move to prevent the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).
Through a post on the County Government of Uasin Gishu official Facebook page on Tuesday, the administration stated that the move is as a result of reported cases of FMD in the County.
"The County Department of Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries wishes to notify residents of Uasin Gishu that it has imposed Quarantine restriction on all the Livestock which include Cattle, Goats, Sheep and Pigs," the notice read.
The notice seen by Hivisasa added that the measures have been taken following confirmed Cases of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Turbo, Moiben and Soy Sub Counties.
Several cases have also been confirmed in parts of Kesses and Kapseret sub-counties.
The notice applies to all Livestock getting in and out of the County until the restriction is withdrawn and that the county wishes to ask all the residents to adhere to this notice in order to have a healthy environment away from any notifiable disease.
"In case of any suspected or confirmed attack of FMD Contact Ward Animal Health officer," they added.
