Citizen TV anchor Jacque Maribe has been arrested in connection to Monica Kimani's murder.
Ms. Maribe surrendered to the detectives on Thursday and was subsequently grilled before returning again on Friday to give further information over the murder.
And now, Maribe will have to spend at least two nights at Gigiri police station awaiting to be charged of Monica's murder on Monday.
Before she surrendered to the detectives, Ms. Maribe was reportedly not picking their calls but she would later claim that she was in shock after realising her fiance, Joseph Irungu, was named as prime suspect of the murder.
At the DCI offices, the seasoned anchor said she doesn't know the deceased and that she had even read news on her death on TV.
Mr. Irungu, was has since been arrested and detained at Muthaiga police station, was named by two neighbors to the deceased as the person last seen with Monica at her Kilimani apartments.
Preliminary investigations by the detectives also located Irungu's phone at Monica's place and is said to have left late night during the fateful day.
The vehicle which he was driving in, it has been established, is registered under Maribe's name and has since been dusted for forensic evidence.
Investigations by the Standard established that Mr. Irungu is highly connected to powers and even provised security for Jubilee campaigns last year.
While Maribe insisted that she knew Irungu early this year, the Standard investigations revealed that the two met last year around June.
Contradicting statement issued by Maribe and Irungu on what transpired the very day, police said, made them to believe the anchor could be a key witness or suspect to the murder.
Irungu was arrested early this week and is said to have chest thumped that the case 'will crumble' any time.
Sources also say government mandarins have been piling pressure on investigators to release him.
Mr. Irungu and Monica are said to have been friends since their days at Kenya Polytechnic with some sources claiming they were as well dating.
