The Inspector General of Police (IG) Hillary Mutyambai has assured Kenyans of their security during and after the long Easter weekend.
Mutyambai says security has been enhanced across all corners of the country and Kenyans should not worry.
The IG, however, wants Kenyans to be vigilant and report suspicious people and activities to the police.
In a statement to the media on Thursday, the IG said adequate police have been deployed across the country.
"We wish to inform that the National Police Service (NPS) has taken necessary arrangements to provide public safety and security to all citizens countrywide," the IG said in a statement to the media.
Mutyambai asked Kenyans to cooperate with the police to ensure tranquillity prevails throughout the holidays.
He also urged road users and specifically Public Service Vehicles (PSV) operators to be extra vigilant and guarantee the safety of there passengers.
"Normally there is an increased number of travellers to rural homes and other various destinations and on this, we call on PSV operators and other road users to exercise caution," he added.
The IG noted that most fatalities caused by road accidents are prevalent during the Easter and December holidays
He said that traffic police and National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officers will be on the roads to effect the law and provide assistance.
The long Easter weekend starts on Friday with Kenyans expected to throng worship centres and entertainment joints.
