Though still considered the Luo Nyanza political kingpin, opposition leader Raila Odinga seems to be having it hard coordinating some parts of the region.

One of the parts is the Governor Okoth Obado-Migori county.

The leader has for long used his big political name and chain of allies to wreak havoc and manipulate politicians deemed to have views and opinions different from that of his camp.

But that has failed to work in the county where the Governor has personally locked horns with the former Prime Minister severally and are until now considered not in good terms.

Obado beat Raila's men to secure his first term on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in 2013.

The county boss has proven himself untouchable even in his second term on Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

Despite opposing Raila's ally Ochillo Ayacko for the Migori Senatorial by-election late last year, he remains standing though considered all alone.

It's also in the same county that former Rongo lawmaker Dalmas Otieno caused a scare to Raila some years back when he attempted to introduce his 'Kalausi' (Whirlwind) party.

Kalausi never saw the light of the day after bashings from area leaders, but at least he had the audacity to try it.

Last year, Raila's popularity and political muscle was defied and almost humiliated by former Migori senatorial aspirant Eddy Oketch of the Federal Party of Kenya (FPK).

Raila with all his popularity and many allies was forced to camp in the area for half a week to drum up support for Ochillo Ayacko, also a former Energy Cabinet Minister.

And when the results were announced, Ayacko beat Oketch with a margin of only 25000 votes.

Therefore, Raila seems to be failing to use his influence in this county.
