The marriage between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto could he headed to the rocks if the sentiments echoed by their close allies is anything to go by.
Although Ruto has repeatedly assured the country that everything within Jubilee Party and in government was alright, Nominated MP Maina Kamanda has given a contrary opinion.
Speaking during a morning show on Inooro FM, Kamanda confirmed media reports that indeed there are camps within the ruling party and accused politicians allied to the DP of bringing about the divisions.
He castigated Senate Majority Leader and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen of leading a section of youthful legislators in disrespecting President Uhuru by embarking on a high-spirited campaign for Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
"Murkomen today treats Uhuru like a retired president. He thinks Uhuru's time is over and they are now focused on 2022. They have shifted their loyalty to Ruto," he said on Wednesday.
Kamanda warned the MPs and Senators who have been in Parliament for 'a few years' against looking down upon the President lest they sabotage their own careers.
"You can't disrespect the Head of State and your party leader and expect to go far. I have been in politics for more than 40 years and have learned a lot," the former Starehe MP said.
He said Jubilee will only remain united if they stop politicking and support Uhuru in achieving the Big Four and ending corruption.
