This is after journalists were barred from accessing the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

According to authorities, Obama was visiting the country as a private citizen hence media coverage was not important.

Unlike in 2015, when he was serving as the US head of state, there was pomp and colour around his arrival in the country.

Journalists  were forced to camp on the roadside outside the airport. Many TV stations placed their cameras strategically along Mombasa Road.

Obama is in Kenya for a two-day trip in which he will meet President Uhuru Kenyatta and Nasa leader led by Raila Odinga.

On Monday, Obama will fly to Siaya County to inaugurate the Sauti Kuu (Powerful voices) Foundation of Sports, Resources and Vocational Training Centre.
