The nine MCAs on Monday asked Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi of the Nairobi Court to allow them to be watching the brief in the case against their boss.

Through their lawyer, the nine requested that they be enjoined in the Sh588 million graft case.

However, their applications was objected by the Prosecution who came out to state that the nine MCAs have no locus standi.

“Let them make a substantive application… let’s not turn this into a political case,” said the Prosecution as quoted by Citizen Digital

The Nairobi Court Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi called on the nine MCAs to file a formal applicationand why they want to take part in the case which doesn't affect them.

On Monday during a court hearing, the prosecution announced that it has given the defense all the witness statements needed.

The court set September 2, 2019 as the pre-trial hearing date for the case.

Governor Waititu and his wife Susan Wangari were charged with illegal awarding of over Sh588 million tender.

The Kiambu boss was barred from accessing his office until this case is over.

The pre-trial hearing was hence set for September 27, 2019.
