Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has alleged that he is being fought by the Deputy President William Ruto and his allies because he has refused to align himself with his agenda as he seeks to ascend to power in 2022.
In a post on Facebook, Wambugu said that Ruto has made inroads in different parts of Mt Kenya and feels he is a thorn in his flesh.
He also said that he is the first lawmaker to tell off the second in command as far as an endorsement of President Uhuru Kenyatta is concerned.
Wambugu alluded that Ruto and his allies have been badmouthing ODM leader Raila Odinga and his allies after he agreed to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“The Nyeri Town area MP is being fought because he has refused to align himself to Ruto’s 2022 agenda. He speaks out against it publicly and without shame. He was also the first MP from the Mt Kenya region to publicly tell off Ruto for trying to undermine Uhuru by starting premature 2022 presidential campaigns, fighting Uhuru’s efforts to fight corruption, and badmouthing the handshake that Uhuru established with former political rival Raila Odinga,“ read part of his post.
The lawmaker further noted that 10s of other MPs from the region have since joined the movement to oppose the endorsement of the DP.
Wambugu has maintained that he is not ready to back Ruto for the presidency.
On Sunday, Wambugu caused drama when he refused to address a function attended by DP Ruto.
